Qinhuangdao is located at the southern foot of the Yanshan Mountains, on the north bank of the Bohai Sea, and in the western part of the Liaoxi Corridor. As early as 30000 years ago, humans had already thrived on this land. Since the 1950s, more than 20 Stone Age sites have been discovered successively. A large number of hammered stone tools have been unearthed from Paleolithic sites such as Hongshiling, Xisijian, and Dashuogezhuang. A large number of ground stone tools and pottery pieces, such as stone axes and hoes, have been unearthed from Neolithic sites such as Yumenkou, Xiaomao Mountain, and Haiyang Town. The hardworking and wise ancient ancestors scattered the first ray of civilization in the Qinhuangdao region here.
